Yes, yes another Super Bowl appetizer! I am all about the Super Bowl food planning and wanted to squeeze in one more suggestion for an appetizer treat for your gathering or for any time.
My kids love pizza rolls, and who doesn’t? It’s nice to be able to cook something that everyone enjoys and to know what ingredients you are using to make these tasty treats! These are great for the kids to help out with and enjoy the good works and love put into them.
This is a pepperoni version, but you can leave out the pepperoni and just make cheese, add little dices of onion or green pepper. They are your rolls, make ‘em how you like ‘em.
Ingredients for the rolls:
Pizza Dough (store bought or homemade)
6 Mozzarella String Cheese Sticks, each stick quartered
4 tbsp Butter
1 tsp of Minced Garlic
1 tbsp Fresh, Chopped Parsley
Your favorite pizza sauce
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees (or according to the dough’s package directions).
Roll out the pizza dough, making an approximate 12″ X 18″ rectangle.
Cut the dough into 24 squares, using a pizza cutter.
Spread a small amount of pizza sauce on the dough squares.
Lay a slice or two of pepperoni on each square, more or less depending on how much you like pepperoni. Make it your own.
Place a piece of quartered string cheese on top.
Pull the four corners of each square together and pinch the edges to seal.
Place the rolls, seam side down, in a shallow baking dish.
In a small skillet, melt the butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add the chopped parsley, and turn off the heat.
Brush the garlic butter on the top of the rolls, coating well. Add a little parmesan for added flavor, if you like.
Bake at 400 degrees (or according to package directions) for 10-15 minutes, until golden. Just keep an eye on them, since all dough cooks differently.
While your rolls are in the oven, grab your favorite pizza dipping sauce and put it into a bowl.
Voilà, there you have your own stuffed pizza rolls!
