A Simple Cream Cheese Danish

I am a huge fan of the cream cheese Danish. It is one of my favorite treats ever! This recipe is so easy to make and is delish, and comes from the foodlushblog.com.



2 tubes of crescent rolls
8 oz cream cheese at room temp
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
3/4 tsp vanilla
1 tsp sour cream

1 cup confectioner’s sugar
1 T milk
1 T butter, softened

Preheat the oven to 350.

Open the crescent rolls and avoid unrolling or tearing the dough apart. Leaving the dough in its tubular shape, slice the dough into ¼ inch thick pieces. Move the slices to a lightly greased cookie sheet and press the center in to make an indentation for the cream cheese filling.

Mix together the cream cheese, white sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, and sour cream in a large mixing bowl. Add about a tablespoonful of the mixture to the center of the pressed dough, but add as little or as much as you like. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes.

While the Danish are baking, make a quick icing to drizzle over the tops. In a small bowl, mix together the confectioner’s sugar, milk, and butter.

When the Danish are baked and out of the oven, allow them to cool for 10-15 minutes. Once cooled, use a spoon to drizzle the icing over the tops of the Danish.

Optional: You can add your favorite pie filling or fruit preserves to the rolls before adding a dollop of the cream cheese mixture.
